What
is CALC?
Since its inception in 1967, Community Action of Laramie County, Inc.,
(based in Cheyenne, Wyoming) has been at work helping Laramie
County children, families and individuals who struggle daily with
poverty, homelessness and other crises. Service is provided through the
following outreaches:
Head Start
and
Early Head Start,
programs providing educational, nutritional and health care services to
infant through pre-kindergarten children and their families.
Crossroads Clinic,
which offers medical, dental and prescription services to the homeless.
Covering Kids,
a program to educate the community about the availability of free and
low-cost medical insurance for children from low-income and homeless
families. Covering Kids is administered by CALC, the Wyoming Department
of Family Services and the Wyoming Department of Health.
Housing
for
homeless families as well as homeless and disabled individuals.
Emergency Services
that
offer assistance to individuals and families with critical housing and
employment needs, including help with rent/mortgage, damage deposits,
utility bills, home repairs and paying for work-related needs such as
clothing, transportation, identification and medical care.
