Adopt A Family Event

The house was quiet on Christmas morning. No rustling of wrapping paper, no excited footsteps racing down the hall. Just the soft hum of the heater and a stillness that felt far too heavy for a day that should have felt magical.

Six-year-old Mia sat cross-legged in front of the tiny fir tree, her eyes scanning the empty space beneath the branches. No boxes. No bows. Just the blinking lights reflecting in her wide, hopeful eyes filling with sadness. Her father watched from the kitchen, heart heavy, wishing he could have given his daughter even one small gift to unwrap.

For families facing housing instability, this isn’t a scene from a sad story—it’s reality. The holidays don’t always bring warmth and laughter. Sometimes, they echo with what’s missing: not just presents, but the comfort of stability, the glow of belonging, the simple joy every child should wake up to.

With your help, we can make sure no child wakes up to an empty tree. We are currently seeking sponsors to to be a blessing for families in need. Your generosity can bring warmth, hope, and a little holiday magic to those who need it most. Each holiday season, we work with local businesses, individuals and organizations to ensure no child wakes up without a toy under the tree. This year is no different and the need is increasing.

For the month of November, we are seeking sponsors for our Adopt a Family event, which provides gifts for those families who are experiencing housing instability to ensure no child feels left out on Christmas morning. Please email your name, phone number and desired sponsorship involvement to jessica.s@calc.net. We will compile a list of all potential sponsors to whom we’ll distribute family wish lists as applications are received. When expressing your interest, please feel free to include any preferences you may have—such as the number of children you’d like to sponsor, preferred gender, age range, or whether you’re open to sponsoring adults or pets. If you have no specific preferences, simply indicate “any.”

Let’s make sure every child feels remembered this Christmas.

Make A Contribution

We invite you to make a difference in your community with a generous donation! Every contribution counts, and your support can create amazing change. Just imagine—your $5 donation can provide vital homemaking services to seniors, helping them stay in their homes longer! A $50 donation can fill the pantry of homeless veterans as they transition to permanent housing, and a $250 donation can remove a barrier to education for a young child or adult by providing an eye exam, lenses and frames through our Child and Adult Eyeglass programs. Together, let’s build stronger communities and uplift those in need!

Support our mission

Your donation truly makes a difference, providing essential assistance to those in our community who need it most. Together, we can create positive impact in the lives of our most vulnerable citizens.
