Community Action of Laramie County,Inc. is committed to uplifting individuals and families in our community through a range of impactful programs. These initiatives are designed to address critical issues like poverty, in-home care, and mental and physical health, enriching the lives of our community members. By providing essential resources and supporting personal growth, the organization helps create a nurturing environment where everyone can thrive and feel empowered.
Transitional Housing Program, Veteran Housing and Project Hope
A highlight of Community Action of Laramie County, Inc. is its housing programs, aimed at helping low-income families and individuals secure stable and affordable housing. For example, last year, the program helped about 96 veterans, individuals and families secure temporary housing, significantly reducing their risk of homelessness, as they worked towards long term sustainable housing. Project Hope can provide rental assistance, contribute to utility costs, and connect individuals with essential resources through intensive case management. This program is especially important during crises, such as job loss or medical emergencies, ensuring that families have a safety net and do not face the harsh realities of housing instability.

Wyoming In-Home Services
Wyoming In-Home Services program offers light housekeeping, chore service, grocery shopping and more to qualified persons 18 and over. Last year, Community Action of Laramie County provided in-home services, grocery shopping, meal prep and respite to 43 home bound seniors and their caregivers. These critical in-home services provide companisionship, support and reprieve that help eliminate premature institutionalization, saving tax payers money and allowing the client to age in their home in a safe and familiar environment, all on a sliding fee scale.
Our Access Care Coordinators (ACC) meet with potential clients and assess their level of needs, qualification and income levels and design a care plan for qualified individuals. Services may include meal prep, laundry, light housekeeping, grocery shopping, respite care and a Personal Emergency Response System button to help the client age in place in an environment they are familiar with. With a goal of preventing premature institutionalization, the In-Home Services program can potentially save 32% in costs, or around $15,000 per year versus assisted living. With funding primarily from Medicaid, Title III of the Older Americans Act and State appropriations, the Wyoming In-Home Services (WyHS) program provides community-based services for our vulnerable community members.

Behavioral Health and Medical Initiatives
Health and wellness are essential for a thriving community. Community Action of Laramie County emphasizes behavioral and medical healthcare through Crossroads Healthcare Clinic for the Homeless. The health clinic delivers essential medical services on a sliding fee scale to those who are homeless and a small percentage of low-income individuals and families. Crossroads Healthcare Clinic provides primary medical care, mental health services and substance abuse services as well as Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for the treatment of opioid addiction.

Creating a Brighter Future Together
The diverse programs provided by Community Action of Laramie County are not just essential services; they are lifelines that enhance the lives of community members. By focusing on crucial areas such as housing, caring for our seniors, and health, the organization fosters resilience and self-sufficiency among individuals and families. Each initiative exemplifies the belief that everyone should have the chance to thrive. Through ongoing support and involvement, we can enrich our community further and work towards a brighter future for all.
